The Ecovida Foundation
The Ecovida Foundation was established on 20 November 2006 in St. Gallen/Switzerland on a private basis. It is subject to the Swiss Federal Supervisory Authority for Foundations. The auditors are Alder Treuhand AG. The Foundation Board consists of five private individuals.
The purpose of the foundation is the material and non-material support of efforts and projects which aim at the sustainable protection and careful treatment of the environment.
The Ecovida Foundation is committed to the conservation and restoration of diverse habitats for flora and fauna in Costa Rica.
Our local commitments
- Protection of tropical forests from deforestation through land purchases
- Reforestation with native tree species
- Planting of fodder crops for local animal species
- repopulation of native animals
- Protection from poaching in the protected area
- Care of the different habitats (forest, bush, grassland, wetlands, water bodies)
- Sensitization of the local population for the appreciation of nature and its protection (cooperation with schools, ecotourism, job creation)
- Networking with other organizations and protected areas in Central America
